good job, but i feel gouged
The two people did a good, efficient job on my 3 units. However, they said one of the capacitors needed replacement. I asked how much? $195 was the answer. What was I to say? Then they asked if the drain lines needed to be cleaned. How was I to know? How much? $145 each (but he gave me one for free). Thanks to the internet and the capacitor box, I found out that the item cost $6 at an A/C supply store and $15 at Ace Hardware. It took less than 5 mins to replace. I just felt gouged. Sucking out the condensate lines was no big deal. For what I paid, I could have bought the most expensive shop vac and done it for half. Who knows whether it needed to be done. In the end, there was nothing wrong with my A/C units. As I said, the two technicians seemed to know what they were doing and were professional.
