Pros and cons

I've been buying from RockAuto for at least 5 years now, they have competitive prices and usually an excellent selection parts for my vehicles. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give them a 7. It would be higher if they had a better shipping policy. The first issue when they ship from multiple warehouses they charge you separate shipping even when their product says it ships from the location, when I called about this I got a different answer each time out of 3 separate times I called. The only time it was corrected is when the customer service person was honest and gave me a credit to cover the additional shipping. The most recent time I inquired about this I was given a convoluted response that you still "save more" because we give you the lowest price which is a load of BS. If X cost $5 and you need 4 of them, but 2 are in warehouse A and 2 are warehouse B then the total shipping amount should be the same if all were in a single warehouse. Again, their response was bogus, and it cost the customer more money to purchase the product this way and the savings you thought you would get is lost. The problem in the end is their shipping model. Period, they claim they ship from a 100 warehouses, big deal. Amazon.com ships from 100's of warehouses, when you order multiple products the items come from many different places, yet it's ONE price for shipping and they don't tell you which warehouse its coming from because WHO CARES, that's not the customers concern. I think their Supply & Chain model is outdated and I think their e-commerce site is also antiquated and could use a re-design with better descriptions and layout. Lastly, they should move to a flat rate shipping model either by weight category or by cost of order i.e. $0 to $25 = fixed price, $26 to $50 fixed price etc.
