Saved my old VHS tapes
I had planned to convert my old VHS tapes into a digital format myself, using my old VHS player that I dug out of the closet. I didn't look forward to this process, as I knew it would take hours per tape, and I wasn't sure how well they'd turned out, so I kept putting it off. Eventually, I started the process by playing one cassette just to see what was on it, and not long after starting, the machine began to eat the tape. I immediately stopped the player but was afraid that whatever memory it held was now gone forever because it had ripped the tape.
I found Stilson Video Services via an online search for video conversion in my area. I wanted a service that was reliable as I'd be trusting them with home videos for which there's no replacement or copy. I brought them several VHS cassettes, including the one that was torn, unsure whether they'd be able to extract the rest of the recording from the torn tape. Bill was helpful in explaining the process and their services, and said it was no problem to fix the damaged tape. About 2 weeks later, Bill called to say the conversion was complete. I opted for the USB drive output, and the cassettes were returned to me. The digital files made it easy to save to my personal drive and share with family and friends, and we were able to share the video memories that we hadn't seen in decades. The damaged tape was converted just fine after the repair and I didn't lose that video, which was a big relief.
So if you've got old VHS tapes sitting around that you've been meaning to convert. Don't risk damage and waste time doing it yourself, call Stilson Video Services and just enjoy the results.
