Called to get a ballpark estimate to hang ceiling fan. There was a light already hung, and wires were already ran to switch. There was nothing special the electrician had to do to hang the ceiling fan except to take the exhisting light. The fan was operated via remote and could be hooked to wifi. (I did not care to hook to wifi, I just wanted to use remote. The quote was over $1000!!! That did not include the fan!!! Had I had any kind of idea it would cost over $600, I would have NEVER has them come out. It was a waste of $100 to have them walk through my door.. I already knew there needed to be a fan box/fan rod put up. The hole was right at the joist. I was okay with $600 to do it, but no more than that. I know I could hang it myself not overly safe for myself as an older lady on a ladder.. My house is only six years old. When I for was being entered on the quote, Imcould not see what he entered to dive that price up so high. (Yes, it was a nice fan, yes a newer home. I can only guess the price went up because of that. You find your simple jobs charge them a lot to balance out your hard jobs that have been under quoted. So no thanks, I paid for the service call I did not net. I would think a good company can give a ball park figure. $1000 to hand something that already has the hole, already has wires ran is crazy.
