Fascinating Experience - Full Bag
I am a 14 handicap and went for my first golf fitting list week. It takes the full 3.5 hours but it's a fascinating experience from a golf and technology perspective. Track Man provides comprehensive feedback and Rob works with you and the clubs to find the ideal combination.
Plan on hitting a lot of six irons. After discussing my game and goals Rob started with me hitting my current 6 to set the baseline. We then tested shafts till we found the right one. I was very surprised how much difference shaft weight makes taking what I thought was the same swing. I was also expecting to continue to use a graphite shaft and Track Man and Rob proved otherwise. Once you have the shaft dialed in, you move to the iron head and similar to the shaft, they perform differently. In the end my total distance should be about the same but misses will be closer to the same distance and closer to the same area of a good shot. Hopefully no more random wild shots all over the course.
The driver process was the same and wedges were more straight forward.
Getting fitted for your putter is different and takes less time. But I am expecting a material benefit. Again, lots of technology but with sonar this time. Based on my stroke I had the absolute wrong putter. The system provides a confidence factor based on a number of metrics. Mine improved from a 54 to 77. I went from missing left and short to actually making 10 footers in their shop. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on the course but I am expecting great things.
There are many articles online recommending a player get fitted and now I understand why. Golf clubs are a personal tool that should compliment your game,
Rob was very skilled and patient. Answered all my questions. Even the next day via email after I reviewed the copy of my results. We even discussed the right ball for my game.
I highly recommend getting fitted and working with Rob.
