
Faulty installation caused a gas leak
GAS LEAK COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. GOLDEN RULE HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY THE WATER HEATER THEY INSTALLED LEAKED GAS IN 4 PLACES.
I'll start with the positives. We were impressed with how quickly Golden Rule responded to our call the day our A/C went out. We had positive interactions with Brian, Karl and Bobby. We decided to purchase a new water heater, furnace and A/C.
We were not impressed the day of installation when the crew was supposed to be at our house at 8am, sent a notification they would be here 45 minutes late, and then arrived an additional 45 minutes after that.
Following installation we noticed a rotten egg smell, only to discover natural gas was leaking into our house and we had to evacuate for the day. MidAmerican, the police and the fire department were dispatched, confirming there was in fact a gas leak.
We have an 18 month old and a newborn. To think that we slept in a house with a gas leak is haunting.
We were further disappointed that someone from Golden Rule did not contact us to follow up on what happened and remedy the situation. Only when I called, did Bill return my phone call with an apology along the lines of "The crew was supposed to check to ensure it was sealed but I wasn't there so I can't say whether they did or did not."
