The two plumbers arrived, one name Jason and I didn't get other guy's name, and I explained leak in shower pipe. I was given an estimate of $175 to "search for leak". When handed the invoice to sign it was for $224 and when I questioned was told it included an annual maintenance fee. I said no to annual fee. The search included re-cutting existing hole in wall. Pipe was visible and had broken, needed new weld. They did weld. In and out in one hour - $590 for one small weld. I guess I should feel lucky they gave me a 10% discount on weld because I'm a senior, and at the last minute decided to cut "search fee" to half price. Still my total bill for one hour's work was $590.85. I really felt like it was a fancy slight of hand and that I had been had. Nothing really illegal I guess, but if I hadn't been paying attention I would have wound up paying for an year's maintenance plan I didn't need, and as it was I did feel $590 was a pretty price little weld. I won't be using them ever again.
