I first came across the company Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. in February. The idea seemed interesting as there is no market for legal coverage. The price point for it was $36 in most states but in New York it's $34. I guess each state has differentiating laws regarding legal services so the price points are different.

The idea is that you have 24/7 access to a firm assigned to you from its own network of law firms. My firm is not local but is located in Long Island.

I figured it be perfect when you get a speeding ticket or if you need a will since creating your will is completely free which is nice since some wills cost you over $300.

However I didn't use the service until I was confronted with not having enough income to pay my monthly student loan payment. I was laid off from my job and I was in a rut.

After a couple months of calls all day and harassment, I called an attorney at my firm to help me out. After I explained my case to them they called me back immediately within 30 minutes with a specialized attorney in student loans and debt protection.

He was very considerate and nice about my concerns. I never thought an attorney could actually help you with your debt. After I have tried to get my payments deferred for 6 months, and failed miserably, my attorney wrote a letter n my behalf and made a phone call as well and I was given two years of deferment from my student loans! That's $980 a month I do not have to worry about for two years!

Not only that but I received a parking ticket from an officer who gave it to me anyway when I was getting to my car and I was a minute late, despite me getting to my car before he took out his pen! He took care of that for me completely and it did not cost me a dime!

I plan on using the service to review my rent documents to make sure I am getting a fair deal.

I highly recommend this service to every single family and person. It's needed because when you nave an attorney, nothing is impossible to fix.
