Ripped off Do your homework get a second opinion

I recently had a tech come to my house due to AC not working. The issue was the outside fan motor. While I got the quote and agreed to the work, I felt I could trust the company I had been doing business with for years, so I had no reason to question the cost plus 81 degrees in my house with kids. I found out after talking to my a relative (in another state), 4 other local companies that I paid over $400 to $500 more than what it should cost. They used a universal motor, nothing fancy or specific. I have asked for a break down of labor and parts and they refuse to provide it including the supervisor they lump labor and parts into one line item. Let me break it down for you in talking to several people. Lets say for example, based on info I was provided at $240 for a motor (if its unique, which mine isn't) and at $100 per hour x the 2 hours of work would equal $440. In people I talked too should take maybe 1 hour and actually closer to 30 minutes, By the way I have also found out that companies have apps that allow them to modify the cost of the part they want to charge, the amount of labor they want to charge and some technicians could be commissioned (not sure if mine was but something he could be). The company doesn't care about people only about making money, I mean ripping people off.

Joel, we are grateful for the opportunity to speak to you regarding your concerns. We received a phone call for emergency service due to the AC unit not cooling in the early evening of May 6th. Our technician arrived within an hour of the service request. Our well-trained technician did a thorough evaluation of the AC unit. He diagnosed the issues and shared upfront pricing to replace the fan motor and fan blades. We spoke to Regina to review the diagnosis, costs associated and address any concerns or objections. We received her approval and authorization before performing quoted repairs. The technician spent about 2 and half hours during this visit and an additional 30 minutes on his subsequent visit to install ordered fan blades on May 8th. On May 9th, Regina called in voicing concerns with pricing. All of our pricing is flat rate and as an A.S.A.P. member your membership discount was applied. Our Customer Care team spoke to her and offered to send a $50 gift certificate towards future repairs; it was mailed out the same day, based on her approval. We hold all of our customers in a high priority. By doing so, we have acted quickly to address your initial request and concerns with your recent service provided. We will continue to serve with the highest level of excellence and stand behind the quality of our work.
