I was disappointed in the charge. Five minutes and $197.

I also asked about a gasket for the washing machine, but was immediately told, "Well, I can replace it, but it is very expensive, $300 dollars". I appreciate the fact that it is very expensive, but it felt as if he didn't want to do it and was instantly putting me off by telling me that it was so expensive. Knowing I could get a brand new washing machine for about twice that, it just seemed way too much. I ended up spending $200 anyway. I would probably just buy a new machine next time, rather than pay that much to have a part replaced in five minutes. Also, it was a little disconcerting that he had to look in a book to "make sure" that what he was going to do would fix it.

It appears that we performed a same-day repair, without inconveniencing the customer with a second service call. We advised them that a repair was expensive, and would have been perfectly willing to perform it if the customer had desired it. Our technicians work on commission, so it's unlikely that he would intend to talk a customer out of a repair, he probably just felt that it would make the repair too costly considering the original cost of the unit. We're proud of our experienced technicians, and we do not charge by the hour. If we did, customers would pay more for inexperienced technicians than they do for experienced ones (which doesn't make sense). As for the book, that was a pricing guide, to make sure we charge every customer fairly and equally. It doesn't contain any information about repairs, and it's a shame that our technician didn't do a good job explaining that to the customer.
